PRP FACIAL REJUVENATION
WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an extract of your own blood that contains three to five times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins then normal blood. When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection or micro-needling these substances stimulate stem cells to produce collagen and blood vessels, in turn replacing tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated.
WHICH FACIAL AND BODY AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
Since the PRP is derived from your own biological make-up and does not contain synthetic products; virtually any area of the body can be treated such as; cheeks and mid-face, wrinkling around the eyes, smile lines, nasolabial fold, neck and jawline, chest, acne scarring, hands, and it can even stimulate hair growth.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A FACIAL REJUVENATION TREATMENT WITH PRP?
The practitioner will assess the degree of skin aging, perform a simple skin analysis, and recommend a sensible treatment with a reasonable outcome. After your skin is cleansed and prepared, local anesthetic cream is applied. Blood is then taken from your arm and is placed in the Angel™ centrifuge. It is then spun and activated in order to separate the blood from the growth factors, platelets and stem cells. For treating the entire face, PRP is carefully injected to the target area. PRP is then applied to the skin and micro-needling is performed.
WHAT DIFFERS KEY TO LIFE MED SPA'S PRP TREATMENT FROM OTHERS?
We use the Angel™ centrifuge system which produces a high yield of platelets that is specifically designed for each treatment to enhance your skin. With tube treatments there is a non specific yield of platelets.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRP FACIAL REJUVENATION AND TRADITIONAL FILLERS LIKE JUVEDERM AND RESTYLANE?
PRP injectable is using your own platelets to restore collagen and blood flow to tissues for regenerative purposes. It is a gradual but noticeable improvement in skin texture, tone, and color with minimal or no recovery time and the results last longer. Juvederm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid fillers that have immediate results; but the results do not last as long as results from the PRP facial procedure.
HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?
Treatements take about 45 minutes to an about and hour and 15 minutes.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE ADVISED?
This will depend upon the health and age of your skin. Normally it is advised to have 2-3 treatments, 4-8 weeks apart. Thereafter, maintenance treatments are recommended every one to two years depending on skin type. However, your clinician will determine your treatment protocol according to your skin condition.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM PRP TREATMENTS?
Within a few weeks of treatment, an overall improvement in skin hydration, texture and tone can be seen. New collagen and blood vessels begin to grow after three to six weeks, and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and volume correction happens over the next three to six months. The effects of Cosmetic PRP can last 12 months to two years, depending on the individual. While it creates a longer-lasting effect in the skin, it does take time to work. For women looking for an immediate effect, Cosmetic PRP can be combined with hyaluronic acid fillers for quick volume correction. Fillers provide a matrix for building new collagen and can be used to accelerate and sustain the benefits of Cosmetic PRP.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Treatment results vary, however, in most patients the results last up to 18 months. Touch-up treatments will maintain the results.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF PRP REJUVENATION?
Minimal: Expect minimal swelling, bruising and redness for 12-24 hours. A bruise at the needle site may be visible for 2-3 days.
